While there are many different ebook formats competing for attention, I think the only two that really matter at this point are the old proprietary standby, PDF, and the open standard, EPUB. Really, when making a decision about which format to use when publishing your ebook, the decision comes down to where you expect your users to be reading your ebook.
If the majority will be reading your ebook on their laptop or desktop computer, you’re probably better off distributing your ebook as a PDF file. Essentially everyone has the ability to read PDF files from their computer these days, so you can be fairly certain that no one will be unable to open the file.
